Surabaya - "Woowww ... that 's the big ship", shouted one of the blond haired Americans. Different from usual, suddenly this time the atmosphere of the Surabaya Container Terminal office (TPS) seemed crowded with chatter of children with their fluent English accent, apparently they were a group from Surabaya Intercultural School (SIS) who were visiting TPS, on Friday (29 / 3). The visit of 22 SIS students was received directly by PT TPS Vice President Director, Kenneth Law.

On this occasion, Kenneth expressed his happiness to the wonderful generation that was so extraordinary that they could visit TPS, "This is your first time visit to Sea Port, enjoy and follow the rule", the message to foreign students from several this country.

Michael, one of the accompanying teachers from SIS, said that this was our second visit at the polling station, and the students were very enthusiastic to know about the world of port, although at a very early age, and a visit to this port was a very anticipated moment by these little expatriates. "One of the best field trips of the year," said Michael.

Retno Tri Utami, HRD & Management Assistant of the TPS Manager explained the general description of the Port to these children, where the Surabaya Container Terminal is the gateway to the delivery of goods from / to inside and outside the country.

"The clothes that you use, gadgets or computers and all your needs, are sent / received to / from outside the island and even abroad by using containers transported by the ship, and going down / leaving at the Surabaya Container Terminal," said Retno.

Students who on average are foreign citizens seemed enthusiastic about listening and even answering every question asked by Retno. The question and expression of the community police came out, as asked by students from Polland, Alex, he asked what if there was a tsunami coming at the port?

Not only that, in April, one of the TPS employees, on the occasion also gave an overview of the port to students, playing Napo animated videos, which in the video illustrate the importance of protecting themselves from danger by using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as helmets, vests and safety shoes.

After that they were also invited to tour the world using props in the form of map / map media, ship-ship toys and miniature one of the loading and unloading equipment, namely Reach Stacker. April provides an illustration of the turnaround of shipping goods via the sea using these props, namely how ships carry many containers containing goods, sailing in the waters of the world's oceans to or departing from the port at the Surabaya Container Terminal.

Not only did they get an explanation in the room, but they were also invited to tour the 8th floor tower where it was a terminal control room and they were also invited by Port Tour to the terminal to see the real ship that was docked, saw a pile of containers, and loading and unloading equipment at the port.

And not only students who are fascinated by the excitement of this Port Tour, but also the accompanying teacher and parents of students also feel happy, because they can also learn about the world of port not only from the book but directly watch the business process up close.

TPS Legal and Commercial Manager, Erika A. Palupi said that TPS will always be open to receiving visits from schools and universities, "We will be pleased to introduce the world of port to the younger generation, because this is a form of our concern for the world of education especially in Indonesia, "said Erika.
